Re: [Digital BW] OT -- Cheap digital camera for kid

Have you seen the Digital Elph?

Boy that is a great toy! Looks like a Minox big brother...reminds me of the old Olympus...but in Stainless Steel (or is it aluminum?). I put my hands on one at the store the other day and wished I had it...it could be suspended on a neck cord and taken skiing with you or put it in a ziploc bag and go windsurfing....it is soooo small. Really high on the Cool factor. Easy to put in a pocket.

  Paul-

Flash card memory has come way down... a 256mb card now sells for
about $115 and on the 2 megapixel cameras this would let her take
about 500 pics... about 350 on the 3mp cameras.

not sure what price range is cheap, but the one i would advise in the
2mp range is the canon digital elph (very sexy...built like a nice
watch) and in the 3mp range, the nikon 885 (which is good enough that
she will be able to make decent letter size prints).

either of these should run about $350.
