Re: [Digital BW] Re: 1280 Failure and After Market Chips

Gregory,

In general I agree with you and have my first 1280 set up with a CIS and MIS
VM inks. I wanted to try out the MIS FS, Neutral FS and Sepia-VM inks in my
second 1280 so hand loading empty carts seemed like the way to go until I
make up my mind which ink to stick in it. Once I do decide it will
definately be with a CIS.

Jim's advice on changing out the cartridge head portion of the CIS regularly
is good advice though. When I started with the MIS VM and the CIS I got no
clogging. Now 7 months latter I am getting an occasional clog and the
frequency seems to be increasing.

I'm new to this group, and may be sticking my nose in a thread where it
doesn't belong, but . . . Why are you going through the hassle of re-filling
cartridges, and re-setting chips? Just buy a CIS with 'read-only' chips and
be done with it . . . unless you are changing ink types frequently . . .
they are available from so many people these days . . .
