Tom- I took one of Galen Rowell's Mountain Light workshops last fall in Bishop, Ca. It was a 3-day workshop, focusing primarily on capturing the light during the 'golden hours' at the beginning and at the end of each day. If you have seen Galen's prints, you will know what I am talking about. Anyway, it was also geared only to 35mm photographers, as that is what he did his critiques with. No use taking the class if you don't get critiqued. I would definitely sign up for his 4-day advanced class, but my style is moving towards 100% black and white in 4x5 large format with digital printing. Totally opposite to what his work is like. $.02 Andy -----Original Message----- From: tomoc [mailto:tomoc@...] Sent: Thursday, April 04, 2002 12:23 PM To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Digital BW] Photo workshops and expeditions I've never been much of a "meeting go-er" and usually sleep through seminars that are more than an hour... but I've been reading about a lot of photo workshops that are "hand on" by definition and wonder if anyone here has taken part in any...if so what you feel the value is/was/might be... An article in this month's OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER lists a bunch of them. I'm thinking about one near home etc. Cheeseman's Ecology Safaris Close-up Expeditions Mountain Light Photography Palm Beach Photographic Center Rod Planck Photography Santa Fe Photography and Digital Workshops West Coast Imaging Photoclassroom.com Great American Photography Weekends Lapp Institute of Digital Imaging These are the ones that caught my eye on the list...any comments good or bad on any of them???
