Epson 870: can it print neutral BW?

2002-04-13 by Rick Schiller

I"m new to the group so excuse me if this has been covered. I have an 870
and as everyone is aware, Black & White images have color shifts, usually to
green when printed. My normal workflow from Photoshop is to scan in BW
negs as BW on a Canon 2720, work them in PS leaving them as grayscale, and
printing them out on Epson Premium Glossy paper for clients using color
settings on the Epson, color space: graysclae. (Black only is much too
coarse). These are headshot images intended for duplication, so the color
shift really isn't a factor except that some clients comment on it. And
I'd like to just be able to give them neutral gray BWs. (sure is easier
then darkroom work).

Is there an inkset I can use already loaded into carts, perhaps the MIS
vm-neutral, that will let me print better B&Ws and still retain color
capability?

Should I buy another printer dedicated to Black & White, possibley a 4-color
job with a quadtone inkset?

or . . ?

Thanks to all
