I've finally gotten around to playing with this more...
There seems to be something WAAAAY funky about the ICM profile Canon is
using...
If I choose Manual color adjustment and select ICM matching, that,
according to Canon should give me the closest color fidelity from and
ICC/ICM app like Photoshop... all well and good..
BUT, if things are implemented logically, I should be able to convert to
that ICM profile w/in PShop itself and then output to the printer with
NO color adjustment as my selection in the printer driver...
Well, that that does not work..
If I do that, my image is waaay dark..
However, with ICM checked in the driver, there is no difference in the
output image whether I apply the ICM (convert the profile) w/in PShop or
not...
This could make profiling other media a real pain in the butt!
The question will be:
Do I:
a) Create profiles for individual media leaving all the color
adjustment at none? (in which case I will probably custom profile all
the Canon media as well)
b) Create profiles with ICM checked on? (in which case I take the
chance of losing colors in the double conversion that will then likely
be taking place -- once in PShop & once in the driver)
I'm leaning towards the first option. Thoughts?
If so, it looks like it's time to get a Spyder and Photo Suite Pro...
