Re: [Digital BW] Epson 1280 - MIS FS Inks - Looking Good

2002-04-23 by Martin Wesley

Mike,

As far as I can tell inside the Piezo driver "Good" corresponds to 720 dpi, "Better" to 1440 dpi and "Best" to 2880 dpi in the Epson driver. Try printing at "Better" and at "Best". Compare the two and if they look the same, as they do to me, stick with the "Better" setting which will print much more quickly.

I haven't posted here in a while. I've been a Piezo user with Cone
inks for over a year. However, my 1200 has been exhibiting the clog
from hell which I have been unsuccessful at clearing. I've even done
extensive pumping of Windex through the printhead. Basically I have
not been able to print for over 2 months.

I couldn't stand it anymore so I broke down and bought a new 1280
printer and the MIS FS inks to be used with the Piezo software. I
put the MIS inks in the new printer, turned it on and had perfect
  nozzle checks the first time.

I printed all weekend long and all I can say is that the prints are
beautiful. There is absolutely not even the slightest hint of
microbanding with this printer. I was also totally thrilled with the
fact that the MIS FS inks really appear to be a perfect replacement
  for the Cone inks.

One minor complaint I have is that the 1280 printer with Piezo seems
much, much slower than the 1200 was. If anyone has an obvious answer
to this (incorrect configuration, etc.) I would like to hear it.
Right now prints are taking upwards of 10 minutes for a "Best"
quality 6.5x9.0 print on letter size paper.

I can only hope that the MIS inks are less prone to clogging than the
Cone inks. So far though, I couldn't ask for more.

  Mike
