Re: [Digital BW] Re: MIS Gloss Coat

Well ... i do not laminate, but on occasion for shows i have the prints (usually large format ones) mounted behind 1/4 or 1/8 inch plexiglas depending on the size. these get framed and require no further handling for the show which is extremely practical. supposedly (according to the service provider) it also increases the print durability. but i would not do the thin-layer lamination just on prints ... i kind of do not like the results

is this the same lamination process that BlockBuster does on their member
cards? -- (or am i confused)

i'd guess that very few people would want to do that to fine-art ..

Why doesn't anyone laminate their prints? I've asked about it
before and got no reply. Do you have an opinion on it? Has anyone
tried it? It's done a lot with outdoor color inkjet-wide format and
such but I see nothing about it here. Can anyone tell me why? Does it
suck, not work, look lame, cheap? Anyone? Anyone?

Thanks, I feel so much better after a good rant.
