Not a SLR...

Mamiya 7 Rangefinder (with optional lenses) or a Fuji rangefinder. (or two...they are relatively inexpensive and you could buy one for wide and one for normal...or different films in each).  Both of these solutions are medium format and relatively light weight with good optics and easy to find/sell/trade.  The almost new Fuji is also very light...and one model has autofocus...which is good for aging eyes.
