Not a SLR...

Mamiya 7 Rangefinder (with optional lenses) or a Fuji rangefinder. (or two...they are relatively inexpensive and you could buy one for wide and one for normal...or different films in each). Both of these solutions are medium format and relatively light weight with good optics and easy to find/sell/trade. The almost new Fuji is also very light...and one model has autofocus...which is good for aging eyes.

The problem with your request is that as soon as you add a prism for an SLR it turns any medium format into a
'beast' (as you said). The amount of glass needed to 'cover' the mirror is always large and relatively heavy.

We have found the Pentax 6x7 as the most comfortable medium format SLR for street shooting. Others have
brought up the auto focus medium format, and that might do the trick for you.

I love my Rollei's also. My Rollei GX came from Chamberlain and has been
excellent.

In fact, I know someone with too many great medium format camera (4) and too
few good film scanners (0) who might be willing to part with a Rollei GX
outfit. Me.

If anyone is interested, contact me off list.

I'm a Rollei 6006/2 guy and also endorse the camera and Chamberlain. His prices are premium but most of the equipment is like new. The SL66 stuff is really dirt cheap right now and I'm afraid that the 6006 market is headed that direction as well. Too bad.
