Jim, Thanks. There is possibly more to the alignment than your post indicates, depending on the printer. For the 1160 and the 3000, the alignments that the special alignment software prints patterns for are a "Black Head Angular Adjustment", "Head Linear Adjustment" and the "Color Head Angular Adjustment". All the software does is print a pattern (different for each of the three adjustments), and the operator adjusts the corresponding lever depending on the results of the pattern that was printed, until the printed pattern is correct. The order of the adjustments is very specific, as one relies on the previous one to be done correctly. BTW, I believe the Epson utility runs under DOS, not W98, unless there is a different version of it than I used.
