The July/Aug 2002 edition of photo techniques has a feature article on p. 20 entitled "The Joy of Carbon Pigment Prints," by Mark Dubovoy. To my dismay, his definition of a carbon pigment print is a print made on a substrate coated with light-sensitive chemicals resulting in a color print! This is an old process. I wonder, now, if we will confuse the issue by calling our ink jet digital prints "carbon pigment prints?" If I read his article correctly, we may have to reconsider the name of our media for classification purposes for collectors, museums, and galleries. On another note, someone associated with the Santa Barbara Museum of Art told me that museums (and I assumed his) are now accepting digital prints of the kind our group is making; that is carbon pigment based, inkjet prints on stable media.
