Digital BW, The Print

welcome to the group. I am not sure in what order you are planning on trying 
things out: PiezoTone carts or CIS with MIS FS? I am guessing you have one 
1280 and you are trying both inksets?

Either way - make sure you flush between inksets and make sure you do a 
good test with both them so you can decide which you prefer. If I were you, I 
would put the carts with PTones first, do a bunch of prints that include 
grayscales and use at least EAM and perhaps some Hahnemuhle papers (as 
Steadman said, PhotoRag is pretty much the king these days).

Then take the carts out, flush, put the CIS/MIS FS in, and print the same exact 
prints on all the same papers. In both cases, use the Piezo plug in with 
appropriate profiles for the papers. Follow the instructions that came with the 
plug-in for the Epson driver settings. Make sure you have the latest 6.xx plug 
in. Check the Inkjetmall site for upgrades and for tips.

Let all these prints sit for a day or two (it's a good idea to let the inks  settle for 
24 hrs before judging), then examine the prints under daylight, fluorescent 
and tungsten. Draw conclusions and decide which inkset you are interested in 
the most. If it's MIS FS, you are already set up. If you want to spend the extra 
money for PiezoTones you have to get a new CIS head, flush, fill, and print.
