I have one and it uses individual carts for all colors.  They are
small...though maybe a bit bigger than you would have in a combo unit
(color cart) for similar sized printer.  Also relatively expensive.  I
needed to buy some and it was about $80 for the set at Office Depot (as I
recall).

I only use this printer because it is fast and produces good prints on CD
labels with a "smudgeproof" ink.  I occasionally print other things with it
such as a document or two and it is very quick.  I also printed some thumb
pages on HWM paper but did not like the look (using the fast mode).  Perhaps
others like the print quality...
