Jerry, OK, but didn't one of 'your' spaceprobes crash into Mars or somewhere because one group of workers were using your old-fashioned system of units, while the others were using the internationally-agreed system? Different units in different countries can cause serious problems, as well as putting the cost of manufacture up! All your scientists use metric units, and although our conversion to metric in the UK is taking some time (waiting for the old generation to die off), eventually it will be simpler. Our 'ounces' were different to your 'ounces'; what a nonsense! The main reason for having two versions of Epson printers (1280/1290, 2100/2200), is just because of the difference in standard paper sizes (back on-list).
