These come in a few different shapes and sizes. Basically, it's a pliable plastic strip that has little mushroom-shaped projections. Both halves are identical, and snap together (which requires a bit of pressure). Once the two halves are joined, you can flex the CIS arm up and down several inches and the fastener holds firm. You could probably even lift the entire printer up a few inches before the two halves release. The 3M adhesive is very good. It stays in place, yet can be removed cleanly if need be. I think Home Depot and a few other hardware stores may carry a similar product in small pre-pack squares.
