Re: Media Street and No More Carts CIS (was Re: [Digital BW] Blanknozzle checks)

2002-07-16 by Sam A. McCandless

No More Carts used to let Media Street sell (as "Niagara") the
continuous ink supply (cis) which No More Carts developed as their
Continuous Ink Supply (CIS). So the Niagara cis I bought some months
ago from Media Street was a re-branded NMC CIS. But the Niagara II
cis Media Street now sells is not a NMC cis at all. The name seems to
me to be misleading. I assume it's an attempt to trade on the
reputation earned by NMC's CIS. Which No More Carts no longer lets
Media Street sell under any name: see the "News" page at
NoMoreCarts.com.

Where Media Street got the Niagara II is a mystery I couldn't solve
on their web site. That's not to say that it's no good. But I
remember the many months NMC's David spent developing and testing and
redeveloping the NMC CIS for one Epson after another and managing to
be a customer-service hero at the same time. I don't know Dave, but I
think that while Dave was doing that he must have learned things
which he built into NMC products to our advantage.

So it seems to me that there's a lot to be said for the NMC products
still available at InkJetGoodies.com and at InkJetArt.com with no
shipping charges.

This is, of course, not to say that Media Street's Norm Levy is not a
good salesman and a pleasant person to deal with. But Norm is after
all just the human face which the Media Street corporation turns
toward our segment of their markets at the point of sales. Why
doesn't the engineer who pulled the Niagara II out of the hat NMC
vacated have a face and a name? Is it likely he or she is busy
becoming an anonymous customer-service hero for the Niagra II?
