Put on a red filter- dark skies, etc. You just pull the sliders around in monochrome mode, rule #1 being to always try to get the three % values to equal about +100% when you're done. PS7 comes with presets that you can just load in the channel mixer and poof! Fred Miranda has written actions which emulate different colored filters being put on your "lens"- they don't work in elements, but he DOES use the channel mixer, and if you go here: http://www.fredmiranda.com/BW_filters/index.html you will see side by side images of a sample landscape with different channer mixer (i.e. Fred's settings to emulate "virtual lens filters") settings.
