I have a 21 inch Electron Blue II and you can run it at whatever the 
res of your video card in your pc, I run mine at 1152 x 864 32bit 
color. At these settings I get a good size desktop with type that I 
can still read.
I do not believer that there is a optimum res, these monitors 
perform great at all available resolutions. I color match mine using 
a Spyder.
