Digital BW, The Print

Another alternative, and one that is done in software by my own Drum 
Scanner,  an Optronics Falcon, is to use the
luminance channel of an LAB file. This does not pay any attention to 
color data at all, so is only reading density,
which is analogus to traditional methods.
