Doug, I was also stuck for some time wondering what this Delta E was all about. Apparently (that is especially for Harvey), Delta E is a measure of the difference between two colours. Delta is the maths symbol for 'change in' and E apparently comes from the German word 'Empfindung' meaning 'difference in sensation'. An article at www.popphoto.com/HowTo/ArticleDisplay.asp?ArticleID=103 gives more details and the formula calculated from the differences in Cielab L, a, & b values. Even better, at www.colorspan.com/support/tools/deltae.asp you can enter the Lab values of two colours and up pops the Delta E value! So you can change L, a, & b values and see what sort of differences a Delta E of 1 or 3 or 10 really means. Bob Frost. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug I." <doug@...> .
