Digital BW, The Print

Martin, 

When I was selenium toning darkroom prints, Mine never had a purple
cast.  I know that if you leave the papers in the toner long enough, it
could go purple, but I only toned for the deeper black, and pulled the
prints before they started to turn. 

Are most photographer's actually WANTING the purple look?
