Something is wrong somewhere with your settings. Royal Plush/German
Etching makes beautiful prints with a quad black archival pigment
system, as well as archival color inks.  Are you sure your print heads
are really clean, and your print heads properly aligned?

I also can get great black and white prints on my 1160 printer using MIS
Archival color inks.  But you must have your printer and paper profiled
to get good prints.

Photo Rag and German etching are both Hahnemuhle papers and have the
same coating, so your prints would be the same.

Why not buy your papers on line, as they are MUCH less money than any
local store would have.  Best source for papers is http://www.mediastreet.com
