Re: [Digital BW] Sudden epson 1160 vertical banding w. Piezo/MIS FS after layoff

Jerry,

This only seems to apply to the Piezo driver but Nij pointed this out that
you can get rid of a banding artifact perpendicular to head travel by
changing the resolution sent to the printer. I don't know if it is really a
round number issue or just the fact that some resolutions don't work so well
with the Piezo driver.

I just hit this myself yesterday after telling everyone how band free my
1280's have been. So of course I immediately get perpendicular banding in
Best mode (2880 dpi?) with the Piezo driver. By changing the image size with
out resampling so that the dpi shifted a few units the problem went away.
In "better" mode (1440 dpi) the perpendicular banding was not there but some
light horizontal (direction of head travel) corduroy banding in the lower
3/4 tones showed up. A shift in image size to change the dpi sent to the
driver seems to have cleared it up. I have no explanation why and it is
certainly not a cure for all banding but it is something to add to the bag
of tricks.
