I don't recall your original question (and may not have been able to answer it if I did), but continuing to carp about the nature of the list will not serve your purpose. I'm not keen on endless debates over issues that don't happen to interest me, either, but they obviously interest the participants, and it is a public forum. In other words, it is what it is.
