hi everyone, i was just at b&h today, and walking in there i was almost definately going to buy a nikon coolscan 4000. the guy there told me a couple of things i never heard before. he said that, for black and white, the LED lighting in the nikon is not as good as the cold cathode light. he said ICE was great for color, but since it cannot be used for black and white, dust will always be a problem. he said, looking at the nikon 4000 or the microtek 4000vf(?) scanners - if they were the same price he'd definitely go with the microtek. but the good news, he said, was the microtek was about $400 less expensive. now i'm confused. who's used the microtek? anyone agree or disagree with this info? thanks for your help!
