Well, folks, it turned out that my nearly 900 meg fixed swap file (1.5x 576 megs memory) wasn't enough. I've changed to a windows- managed dynamic swap file on my D: drive, and all is well. I like a fixed swap file because it can make the machine faster. But I'm not going to argue with success, and I'd rather not waste lots of ink and paper figuring out an exact setting. I also put Picture Window Pro's temp files onto my D: drive. Since there is quite a bit of disk activity while printing, so I suspect it was the swap file. Thanks to everyone for their help! --Peter
