Tyler Boley has been generous enough to write me curves for my 7000 loaded with MIS standard hextones in standard positions. These will not work in Variable tone inksets. I consider Tyler to be an expert in Manual separation technique, And a Ph.D. in Quadtone printing. He is very experienced and has the cool tools (software and spectrocam) to profile and analyze black and white ink patches. The initial holdups were, He is Mac I'm PC, he is PS6 and I'm PS5. Once we got past all that and the Gamma difference in my Piezo work flow vs. his gamma CMYK technique it was quick and smooth sailing. We are standard now with Colormatch RGB and 1.8 gamma. The curves we have so far(:)) Sumerset Enhanced and Royal Plus/Jazz! The Plush curve works well proofing on EAM. Epson 7000 only. Note: The Sumerset Enhanced profile curves were created on the latest version of this paper. I do believe it is in fact a different paper surface and coating than the enhanced from several months ago. It prints with richer blacks and is slightly smoother. If anyone Has a 7000 with straight MIS hextones loaded and would like to try these curves let me know. I would love some feedback from other users. Most of you probably don't remember The mottle effect MIS dark inks had on Sumerset Enhanced when it first came out, well Tyler even doctored the curve to fix that! The ink prints as nice as Piezo with equal blacks and no dots in the highlights even with an 8x loupe. Great Job Tyler, and Thanks! Any time you want a 24x30 or two let me know... Steve Meyers
