For those who do a lot of typing, a Microsoft Natural Keyboard or the equivalent (i.e., any keyboard that slightly splits the key area into two zones at a shallow angle to each other, without any other changes) can prevent RSI and relieve pain. I've had no trouble since switching to such a keyboard several years ago, and I type a _lot_. The advantage to this type of keyboard is that it does not require you to turn your hands at the wrists to align them with the keyboard, and that makes all the difference. At the same time, the design is not so radical that you have to relearn anything if you touch type, and you can still switch between this type of keyboard and a standard keyboard as required.
