Well, I will agree with you there- clear base is better than ink. Or 
it sounds good at the very least. The problem I have with recommending 
the cleaning carts over the Epson carts is that when I installed 
cleaning carts in a printer it never cleared a nozzle clog. The Epson 
carts did clean up the nozzles right away, and continued to do so as 
long as they were installed. So I could turn printer on a week later 
and get a clear check without much cleaning cycles. 

But when I insured a clean nozzle check- but then installed cleaning 
carts, after three weeks I switched back to pigment inks and I had to 
spend quite a lot of effort and days clearing the nozzle. It could 
very well be that the pigment ink was bad, I'll grant that. But my 
sense is that if I had been running Epson carts instead, the nozzles 
would have been better prepared to accept the return of the pig inks 
after three weeks. And turning the printer on every week would have 
had more of a clearing effect with Epson carts than cleaning carts. I 
could be wrong, lot's of unknowns there.


Sort of like the Epson carts self clean but cleaning carts just act as 
a sort of "neutral fluid". Now this is based on one bad experience 
trying cleaning carts, and Paul, you could be right. It certainly 
seems to make more commen sense your way. So I guess if anyone has 
positive experiences with cleaning carts  used for storing to report 
that here.

I agreed with you there. I suggested installing new carts on the 
(previously flushed) tubing as a possible fix.

Quite a cute idea- it might be worth a try, and it would save messing 
with tubing flushing and cart changing. Who knows?
