Very technique dependent, like a varnish brush. Your hardwood floor hides brush or pad strokes well because of the grain...you have no such luxury with a print on paper. If you have really good brush technique you can get passable prints...but its a lot of work. In contrast Mayer rod coating, while requiring the investment for a rod, and of course a coating formulated for the rod, is much faster and easier.
