I've been asking the same questions- If you need to print now, go with some more sundance inks- available at http://www.digitalartsupplies.com/ They call them warm-neutral inks. This is what the original Cone piezography inks were. I believe a set of 4-4oz bottles is $125.00. MIS makes a direct replacement for the original Cones inks called MIS FS quads. http://www.inksupply.com/ They work with the Epson driver using a downloadable curve or with the Cone Piezo Driver as a direct replacement ink,. However, if you change to MIS, no matter how compatable they say they are, you will have to discard your current CIS and start fresh. I'm sure the profiles will be a little off as well. If you want a band-aid to print your portfolio prints while you are sifting through the choices, you may want to try the sundance carts instead of buying a whole set of bulk inks. I'm guessing that would be cheaper, and I'm assuming you are using a CIS type of system. I myself have decided to get out of quad tone printing. I just don't do enough to justify buying a new set of ink, no matter whose brand I buy. I love my 1280 with the Gen4 ink. If I need the occasional BW print, I can cobble through by making a green/ magenta compensation adjustment layer. It's not perfect, but good enough. I have just listed my 1160's on E-Bay.
