Re: epson2200

Yonci (your name?)

search the archives here as well as the archivalcolor group for tips. I have a
2200 and have tried bw. Decent, but not like a quad printer.

In brief: The biggest problem is that if you set the driver to "no adjustment", the
grayscale dips to black at about 90%. Everyone has told me to use Photo
Realistic and related settings (see also luminous landscapes for a lot of info). I
have yet to this date to see a good grayscale on EAM, Premium Luster or
Watercolor paper (matte K). The neutrality is OK but the shadows are not, or
vice versa. Also, dmax is good on EAM and Luster but not on art papers like
Museo, Eclipse, PhotoRag etc. These are not final conclusions, I am still very
much experimenting - just wanted to fill you in on what the discourse has
been.

Read up on this, play with settings and then, please report your findings. The
wisdom out there is that you have to either get custom profiles for this to work
well, or use the ImagePrint driver (currently only for PC, the Mac version on
the way). Also, I am told that custom 7600 profiles do not work on the 2200.
See the epson9000 list for details. Bummer!

Good luck.

Antonis
