I would believe that.  There were many issues I had with the original Foveon
sensor arrangement, which would lead to sharpness issues.  The sensors would
have to be perfectly coplanar with relation to the focus plane, and...they
would have to have perfect XY alignment.  That is VERY difficult to achieve
in the lab, much less in a camera that has to bounce around and be used...
The new sensor does not have this issue, as it has all three color sensors
in the same piece of silicon.
