Digital BW, The Print

Hi,

Didn't catch your name there but I am going to respond to your 
questions with some questions to get a better idea of where you want 
to go.

1. Do you want to print B&W using the manufacturer's color inks in 
the 870 or 932?

2. Do you want to dedicate one of these two printers to use quadra 
tone inks to make B&W prints?

If you want to do #1 then there are various approaches but a good ICC 
profile would help. These can be purchased for the specific printer 
already written, custom made for your individual printer or you can 
use you scanner with programs like EZColor to make your own profiles. 
These profiles are designed for color printing but a well-calibrated 
system is a real plus in creating B&W prints with color ink sets.

If you want to do #2 it is possible by refilling cartridges with 
quadra tone inks but there are no profiles for these two prints and 
you will need to develop your own curves or profiles. Not impossible 
but not the easiest path.
