treadwinkle, it's a trade off: you get decent bw with less hassle from the 2200: it's a great one-printer solution, and the ultrachromes seem to be stable. OTOH, you can't print nice platinum-looking prints on a variety of matte papers as you can with the quad systems. If you want bw on glossy or luster papers, the 2200 is probably the only way to go. If you want matte papers, and the quality of the quads when used with decent software, the 2200 doesn't quite cut it, especially if used with the Epson driver and no custom profiles. Those with PCs and the ImagePrint driver may have a different opinion - it's a combination I haven't tried or seen results from. Very promising, but it'll cost you an additional $500 to get . I'd say that it's a fair trade off to avoid the hassles - just remember that the ink will cost you 4 times the cost of Gen4 or equivalent.
