Thanks Ernst, I got a little confused here, but you cleared it up - I have the Parhelia here, but as I atm are having problems with one of my monitors I could not be very clear on how it all really works. I have 2 x 19" DiamondTron 19NF any bigger and I would sit on my neighbours lap - currently my desk is 240x120cm which I think is 8x4 foot! Ideally I would like to move to LCD, but AFAIK it is only the Apple Monitor 22-23" that is good enough - and I just can't afford that. Hopefully when I get my other monitor back I will be able to evaluate my setup better thanks Henrik -----Original Message----- From: Ernst Dinkla [mailto:E.Dinkla@...] Sent: Monday, 21 October 2002 22:21 To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Digital BW] Digital Darkroom Computer Builders? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ernst Dinkla" <E.Dinkla@...> To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Monday, October 21, 2002 9:10 AM Subject: Re: [Digital BW] Digital Darkroom Computer Builders? > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Henrik" <tived@...> > To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Monday, October 21, 2002 6:06 AM > Subject: RE: [Digital BW] Digital Darkroom Computer Builders? > > > > then it is time to look at your main object the graphics card - Darkroom > is > > a 2D environment, so you don't need one of those GeForce 3D games cards - > if > > that is what you need then get a PlayStation, However if it is image > quality > > you are looking for there is only one place to look IMHO - www.matrox.com > > for the new Parhelia 512 or the G550 both have great image quality if not > > the best in their field. The Matrox double head cards are ICC compatible but you can only use one ICC monitor profile with the card, that means you either need two monitors that are exactly the same (or made the same with the hardware control of the monitor itself) or abandon colour control of the monitor that is only running the PS menus. As most have a 20" screen for the image and a 17" screen for the menus there's little chance that the monitors are much alike. If colour control is needed on both monitors, then it is better to have two separate cards or a double headed card that allows the use of two separate ICC profiles.
