Re: [Digital BW] SprintScan 120/PolaColar Insight Questions

2002-11-08 by art@mikebragg.com

hi Val-
i tried using polacolor insight for grayscale scanning and was getting
very poor spiked histograms. i have switched to silverfast and have
been getting excellent results. i too, have the glass carrier and use
it for up to 6x9 scans in silverfast. i have to insert the original
polaroid mf holder when starting silverfast. after silverfast starts i
eject the original holder and load the glass carrier and everything
works fine. finally to answer your questions grayscale scans always
result in smaller file sizes relative to their rgb counterparts. i am
not sure about setting the black and white points - but they work great
in silverfast and from my experience you'll get better scans the
polacolor. hope this helps
