With the 1280 you can cheat and put previously installed carts if they are less than six months old. Run a few cleaning cycles and some purge patterns. Then it is still good to get someone to turn them on maybe run a quick purge pattern/ nozzle check every 3 weeks maybe depending on your climate. FOr me Epson ink must be about twenty times or more clog free as MIS ink. Once I tried running cleaning carts from MIS for two weeks and this seemed to also work (with this one limited experience). But I had one problem: It wouldn't clear a clog created by the departing MIS inks- only the Epson carts did that. Jim H.
