Putting Printers to sleep

2002-11-08 by nestlethedog

Will be going out of town for several months and would like to know
the best way to keep my printers from cloging. I have a 1280 with
piezo cartridges and a PhotoEX with MIS-VM carts.

Thanks,

Barry

No CIS makes it even easier. Just put fresh Epson carts in. With the
1280 you can cheat and put previously installed carts if they are less
than six months old. Run a few cleaning cycles and some purge
patterns.

Then it is still good to get someone to turn them on maybe run a quick
purge pattern/ nozzle check every 3 weeks maybe depending on your
climate. FOr me Epson ink must be about twenty times or more clog free
as MIS ink.

Once I tried running cleaning carts from MIS for two weeks and this
seemed to also work (with this one limited experience). But I had one
problem: It wouldn't clear a clog created by the departing MIS inks-
only the Epson carts did that.
