Yes, there's only one system on my main disk

This is the problem. It is telling me that one of my drives has 9.2.2 on
it, but THAT drive has NEVER had system 9.2.2 on it.  It is my BOOT disk
that had that system on it, and all by itself the computer changed it to 9.2.1.

Yes, but if everything went wrong on my main drive, it would be awful
nice to 
have a bootable working backup drive.

I've never had my plugins in that folder.  They've always been in the
main plugins folder.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
