Usually photographic equipment is way cheaper in the US, compared to Europe. For instance, digital still camera's are about TWICE as expensive here. This Canon film scanner, however, can I buy here for 639 euro (and the euro and dollar are more or less equal at the moment), excluding sales tax. I have to admit that this is in a shop only for pro's, but you can easily register, without any proof etc. I bought with them a Canon S900 the other week, also cheap. In their consumer shop, right near their profi windows, it was 50% more!! They are not this cheap on everything. Maybe Canon try to get a stronger foothold in the pro market against Epson (printers) and Nikon (scanners). Anyway, this scanner seems to have a good price.
