here's subject 'near and dear' to my heart! Comp USA offers the 
replacement warranty (they call it a TAP- Technology Assurance 
Program) and according to the salesperson that sold me mine, you can 
bring it in and get full credit (minus sales tax and the cost of the 
TAP) towards anything else in the store. So far I've replaced a two 
year-old Alps and TWO 1280s for the cost of the sales tax and a new 
TAP each time. I've managed to not screw up my current 1280 so far, 
but near the end I will most certainly take it in and replace it! 
What a deal!
