Digital BW, The Print

Hi:

I have a one printer (1280) setup and don't see getting another 
printer too soon. But I would like to print B&W about once or twice 
a month. How much ink will I waste using a cleaning cartridge to 
clean out the color, do the B&W, clean out the B&W &  reinstall the 
color. I probably won't get a second printer until late fall next 
year, which will probably be the 2200 at which time I'll switch the 
1280 to a CIS system for B&W.

It is a "workable short term" solution to use one of the B&W 
cartridge solution until then?
