I too have a 1270 and was totally unsatisfied with my B&W results. Earlier this year I bought a new Epson 3000 and fitted it with Piezography inks and have never looked back. Results are wonderful. I even displayed some prints in a small gallery showing with other photographers who printed both color and B&W using a "traditional" darkroom. My prints held up well and I received several compliments.
