Need advice on new printer fo b/w.

Need advice on new printer fo b/w.

2002-12-01 by jdikaios

I have been using an Epson 1270 for my color prints, but am not
satisfied with my b/w prints, using just the black ink. I gave up
using the color inks. Too many color shifts. My question is: Should I
trade up to one of Epsons' newer printers with the 2 black inks, or
should I get a second printer dedicated for b/w printing only, and if
so which printer and should I use MIS blacks or Piezography. I am
looking for a neutral print.
Thanks: Jim

I too have a 1270 and was totally unsatisfied with my B&W results.
Earlier this year I bought a new Epson 3000 and fitted it with
Piezography inks and have never looked back. Results are wonderful.
I even displayed some prints in a small gallery showing with other
photographers who printed both color and B&W using a "traditional"
darkroom. My prints held up well and I received several
compliments.

Jim,

I use one printer each for color and b/w. They are both Epson
1280s. This printer gives you many options ink and workflow options
for b/w printing. You cannot go wrong with it. Regards.
