It's weirder than weird. Sometimes when I change a cartridge it isn't that cartridge that fails to fire on all cylinders, but another one. I've even gone to filling the carts without removing them from the printhead - lift the lid, and when the printhead moves to the middle, unplug the printer (it won't leave the printhead in the middle forever, even with the lid up - at some point it will return it to the parked position, and I don't want that to happen when I have a needle stuck in an open cartridge fill hole.) Even then I nearly always have to do one or two cleaning cycles to get a complete nozzle check. The inks are cheap enough that I'm willing to put up with this nuisance, but if the stock market ever comes back to its peak levels I'll probably go back to the Canon cartridges.
