Lloyd,

Have there been any lawsuits that you know of regarding the issues you
raise?  Specifically the "chips that read empty and shut down the printer
when half full"...  To me, that is an easily actionable item.  My 1270 is
currently out of black ink...and if I find that there is "a usable amount"
of ink left, I will certainly not be happy.
