Hi Frank; It might be a) not enough RAM or b)some qirk of your particular ##&% @!! Windows 98SE setup. The Silverfast password should enable you to go back and pick up the twain version (it comes with, on the CD so you're not cheating) I would start there, maybe it'll work better, and you can still use it through PS, there's no functional difference I'm aware of, except the twain is available to any other applications you might have as well-try it.
