Digital BW, The Print

I was just given a 'new' Epson Stylus Color 900 printer (two years 
old but never used) at no cost.

I'm thinking of trying my hand at some B&W printing (files from a 
new digital camera) and thought a low-cost experiment would be to 
buy / install a set of MIS Quadtone inks (MIS has pre-filled 
Quadtone cartidges for the 900).

Does anyone here have any experience with this Epson model ?  If so, 
I'll take any suggestions on setup, paper recommendations, workflow, 
etc.
