I hadn't noticed it before, but in a recent mailing I received from
Meter they stated on their Price List, "All of our photographs are
limited editions. They are real prints made in darkrooms by the
photographer (or under their supervision).....". The statement "real
prints" reminded me of some past discussions on this forum regarding
the acceptance and legitamacy of digital prints within the art world.
It appears that in some quarters, at least, we "digitizers" have a
ways to go. Incidentally, in the Meter Gallery list there are
offerings of prints by Sheila Metzner ranging from $3000 to $6000
each. These are Fresson prints, which probably contributes to hers
being the most expensive on the list. An interesting website:
